Providence Health Village | 1160 Varnum St NE (Washington, DC)
Redevelopment of the former Providence Hospital site into nearly 500 units of for-sale townhomes and affordable apartments in partnership with EYA
Project Description
The Providence Health Village aims to revolutionize the former Providence Hospital site with a modern architectural expression and dedicated entrance, signaling its transformation into a vibrant health hub.
The redevelopment plan includes a diverse mix of uses including medical offices, health-oriented retail, fitness centers, healthy food options, and residential spaces, all converging around a central "Health HUB" at the intersection of 10th and Allison Street. By activating key intersections and opening the site to the community with extended street grids and anchor buildings, the village invites visitors in while prioritizing sustainability through parks, green spaces, bike lanes, and sustainable design features. Spanning 898,933 GSF, the project encompasses 489 residential units (a mix of for sale and for rent), including 204 affordable units, alongside 15,000 SF of retail and 254,800 SF dedicated to healthcare facilities.
