Selected by MassPort to build 110 units of affordable housing alongside our partner, The Community Builders (TCB), in the Boston Seaport neighborhood
Project Description
Situated in a prominent position directly above the Mass Turnpike, the development of Parcel D-4 will serve as a welcoming gateway to the Seaport neighborhood. Along with non-profit development partner, The Community Builders, The Menkiti Group aims to create affordable homes in the midst of a dense, urban scene. The project fills a real need for apartments that are attainable for low- moderate- and middle-income persons and families.
Presently, the majority of housing in the Seaport is high-end, market- rate housing for individuals or small households. The proposed program will create an opportunity to serve a wider range of residents, providing access to the Seaport neighborhood and all it has to offer. Each of the 200 proposed rental housing units will be income restricted to households earning 120% of the area median income or less, with a quarter of the units affordable to very low-income households. Further, the project program has been intentionally tailored to serve families, as more than half of the project program consists of 2- and 3-bedroom units.
