$11.5MM restoration and lease-up of a historic 25,000 SF commercial building in downtown Worcester leveraging New Markets Tax Credits, historic tax credits and financing from MassDevelopment

Project Description

The Menkiti Group recently completed the complete renovation and restoration of 526-538 Main Street in Worcester, a building that MassDevelopment originally purchased through its Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Equity Investment program. Workbar serves as the anchor second floor tenant and will be joined by additional retail businesses, including Boston-based Alma Gaucha Prime Brazilian Steakhouse.
MassDevelopment provided nearly $7M in loans to support the project, in addition to a $250,000 grant from the state's Collaborative Workspace Program.

The Menkiti Group also received allocation of New Markets Tax Credits from RBC Community Development with additional financing support from US Bank and the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency. The project will also be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
