The Menkiti Group and Dantes Partners Recognized by HAND Housing Achievements Awards for the ‘Best Small Affordable Housing Project’ in the Metropolitan Region
WASHINGTON -The Menkiti Group, an integrated real estate services firm dedicated to enhancing the fabric of life in America’s urban neighborhoods, and its development partner, Dantes Partners, a Washington D.C. based real estate developer, were today recognized by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND) as the developers of the ‘Best Small Affordable Housing Project‘ in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The team is being recognized for developing the 28-unit Justice Park Apartments in Columbia Heights.
HAND is a multi-state regional membership association dedicated to supporting the community development industry in its efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Every year, HAND’s Housing Achievement awards recognize the most outstanding and innovative housing developments, programs and solutions across the metropolitan region.
The Justice Park Apartments, built on a former Columbia Heights nuisance property disposed of by the District of Columbia government, is a 28 unit workforce housing project designed to accommodate the deaf and hard of hearing. Units are affordable for individuals and young professionals who earn up to 60% (approximately $60,000) of the Area Median Income, providing a luxury-quality affordable building within walking distance of the city’s best amenities. All units within the Justice Park Apartments were pre-leased before the building was delivered in September 2014.
