Downtown Silver Spring in know for its recent revitalization that began in the early 2000s. Over $1 billion dollars was invested in the downtown area which let to the relocation of the American Film Institute to the Silver Theater movie palace building. Soon after a number of retail and shopping attractions quickly followed. Silver Spring boasts modern residential high rises that not only focus on access to popular retail and recreational attractions but also easy access Metro stops.
The downtown area is also known for being very kid friendly, and Nickelodeon named A Parent in Silver Spring blog, as one of their best local blogs. Silver Spring also is know for it’s competitive charter schools that boast strong math and science programs..
