Parents often feel like their kids start growing out of clothes as soon as the clothes are brought home! The constant shopping for slightly bigger sized clothes can get overwhelming and expensive. The good news is that there are other parents in the same boat and the Menkiti Group has recognized the need to address this.
For the second year in a row, the MG Residential team hosted a Kids Clothing Swap community event at their office in Brookland. Families were invited to drop off gently used clothes and parents were rewarded with several new-to-you outfits for their little ones to wear.
The kids’ clothing swap has been a great way for parents to get ‘new to you’ clothing for their kids without breaking the bank. This community event has also given families an opportunity to interact with other young families from the Brookland, Rhode Island and Woodridge neighborhood. The event saw between 30 – 35 families who left happy with bags filled with kids clothing which their children picked out themselves. Several play dates were also scheduled during these interactions.
The event was such a success that we are planning another one this summer! We had several bags of clothing items left over which were then donated to Maya Angelou Young Adult Learning Center. This center serves many students who are young parents and will make great use of these clothes for their children.
