Howard University has officially launched the process of re-imagining and redeveloping of the 2.2-acre Bond Bread Factory / WRECO Garage site in the heart of the booming Shaw neighborhood. The 788,000 SF mixed-use development will include an activated public and retail space which will combine a marketplace concept, maker and incubator offices, and active cultural programming which will serve as a hub of neighborhood and Howard University activity. Howard University has selected a master development team made up of DC-based The Menkiti Group, EDENS, and Fivesquares Development to oversee the master planning and redevelopment. The redevelopment of Bond Bread is aimed at achieving the long-held aspiration of Howard University and the DUKE Plan to “knit the community together through new development.”
