Dantes Partners and Menkiti Group Deliver Fully-Leased 28-unit Justice Park Apartments in Columbia Heights
WASHINGTON, DC – Just days after a Mayoral ribbon cutting ceremony for the Justice Park Apartments in Columbia Heights, Euclid Community Partners, a joint venture of local developers Dantes Partners and the Menkiti Group, announced that its 28 unit workforce housing project designed to accommodate the deaf and hard of hearing is fully leased. A ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Vincent C. Gray was held on Friday, September 26th at the building site, 1421 Euclid Street NW.
Justice Park Apartments features workforce units for individuals and young professionals that earn up to 60% (approximately $60,000) of the Area Median Income with electronic features for the deaf and hard of hearing community. “We are committed to creating workforce and affordable housing of the highest quality – housing that is on par with market rate units across the District,” said Buwa Binitie, founder and Managing Principal at Dantes Partners. “This project will continue to raise the bar on what is achievable in workforce and affordable housing.”
Euclid Community Partners acquired the development rights to the Columbia Heights parcel from the District of Columbia government via a competitive process in 2010. The DC Council approved the surplus and disposition of the land in 2011.
The project was designed by Grimm + Parker Architects in collaboration with ReStl Designers, DMY Engineers, and Wiles Mensch Corporation. Additional consulting services for the project were provided by Compass Design and Development and CDKM Consulting.
“The design team did a masterful job planning the 28 units and amenities within the context of the existing site,” stated Mark Rengel, the Menkiti Group’s Vice President of Development. “With outstanding leadership from Dantes Partners, the project team has been able to provide luxury-quality amenities and finishes at a price point that serves the District’s workforce, preserving affordability in an increasingly unaffordable city. We are also incredibly proud that the project incorporated specific provisions to assist the deaf and hard of hearing community.”
The property is being operated by Equity Management. More information about the project is available at: www.justiceparkapartments.com.
