Business Journal Editorial Board Selects Most Influential Business Leaders
WASHINGTON, DC – The Washington Business Journal has named Bo Menkiti, CEO and Founder of the Menkiti Group and Keller Williams Capital Properties, to the 2014 Power 100, a list of the most influential business leaders in the Washington metropolitan area.

The Menkiti Group was founded in 2004 by Mr. Menkiti. A double bottom line enterprise, the Menkiti Group’s approach to urban neighborhood transformation is centered upon residential and commercial development, sales, and leasing. In 2006, Mr. Menkiti formed the Keller Williams Capital Properties brokerage with partners Brandon Green, Carlos Garcia, Jason Martin, and Joel Nelson. In eight years the brokerage has grown to five offices throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia, with nearly 600 associate agents and over $1.3 Billion in 2013 sales.
Under Mr. Menkiti’s leadership, the Menkiti Group and KWCP reported a 2013 combined revenue of $50 million. Last week, both companies were honored by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and Fortune Magazine as two of the fastest-growing inner city companies in the U.S. and previously this year were recognized as two of the fastest growing privately held companies in the country by Inc. Magazine.
Mr. Menkiti’s work has been featured in David Bornstein’s book on social entrepreneurs How to Change the World, and in Stephen Goldsmith’s The Power of Social Innovation. Mr. Menkiti has been recognized nationally by Ebony and Inc. Magazine as one of the coolest young entrepreneurs in America, and was awarded the National Association of Realtors Prestigious “30 under 30” award in 2006. Earlier this year, Mr. Menkiti was recognized by the Washington Business Journal as a 2014 Minority Business Leader.
Prior to forming the Menkiti Group and KWCP, Mr. Menkiti served as Chief Operating Officer of College Summit, a national non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the college enrollment rate of low-income students. In this capacity, Mr. Menkiti oversaw the organization’s successful growth into a multi-site national organization.
Mr. Menkiti served as the 2013 President of the District of Columbia Association of Realtors and is a board member of City First Bank of DC and Dance Place. Mr. Menkiti also serves on the board of DC Water, the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority.
Mr. Menkiti is a graduate of Harvard University and lives in Washington DC with his wife and three young sons.
