Congratulations! You are well on

your way to the settlement of your new home!

Below are some of the things that we will need to do to get ready for settlement and some links that should help.

  1. Make sure you have a copy of your ratified contract and understand the timeline for important contingencies. Ask your agent if you still need a copy or have any questions.
  2. Attend the home inspection. (Your agent will work with you to schedule the inspection)
  3. Keep in touch with your loan officer, to make sure he or she has the information needed to process your loan.
  4. Fill out and send back an updated information form that will be sent to you by the settlement company
  5. Obtain homeowners or condo insurance.
  6. Contact U.S. Postal Service to change your address.
  7. Contact the local utility companies to start service or switch service into your name effective the date of settlement.
  8. Understand the settlement process and know what to bring.
  9. If you are using HPAP, EHAP or Tax Abatement click here.
  10. Prepare for your move, but remember there are many factors that can delay a settlement, so be flexible with plans. Use our Moving Checklist to help.
